EXTENDED DETENTION (ED) POND


Meaning of EXTENDED DETENTION (ED) POND in English

A conventional ED pond temporarily detains a portion of stormwater runoff for up to twenty-four hours after a storm using a fixed orifice. Such extended detention allows urban pollutants to settle out. The ED ponds are normally dry between storm events and do not have any permanent standing water.
