Meaning of SECONDARY DRINKING WATER REGULATIONS in English

Non-enforceable regulations applying to public water systems and specifying the maximum contamination levels that, in the judgement of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), are required to protect the public welfare. These regulations apply to any contaminants that may adversely affect the odor or appearance of such water and consequently may cause people served by the system to discontinue its use. Term may be used synonymously with Secondary Drinking Water Standards.
