SECONDARY RECOVERY


Meaning of SECONDARY RECOVERY in English

The injection of water into an underground petroleum deposit to force the remaining oil into recovery wells. This technique is used to recover additional oil from old wells following the removal of the oil that can be easily pumped to the surface (Primary Recovery). Also referred to as Enhanced Oil Recovery. Also see Injection and Recharge.
