CONDITIONAL MORTALITY RATE

The fraction of an initial stock that would die either from fishing (conditional fishing mortality rate) or from other causes (conditional natural, mortality rate) during a year (or season), if there were only one source of mortality. Also called annual mortality rate, or seasonal mortality rate.
