Go ‧ lan Heights, the /ˌɡəʊlæn ˈhaɪts $ -lɑːn-/ BrE AmE [P]
a range of hills and mountains, east of the Jordan River on the border between Syria and Israel. The area used to belong to Syria, but Israel took control of it in 1967. The two countries still disagree about who owns it.
