RUDDY DUCK

[ruddy duck] n (1814): an American duck (Oxyura jamaicensis) which has a wedge-shaped tail of stiff sharp feathers, a broad bill, and white cheeks and the adult male of which has rich brownish red on the upper side and a blue bill during breeding season
