(n.) An advanced method of determining light interaction, such as reflection and refraction, in a graphical lighting environment. Rays are traced from the light source to the eye point, or from the eye point to the light source, to determine what the eye sees through each pixel on the display. Ray tracing mainly yields realistic results, but it is computationally intensive. See also radiosity
