a simple constable in Shakespeare's Measure for Measure. Elbow is a ridiculous character much given to malapropisms, as in Act II, scene 1, when he brings before Angelo and Escalus two notorious benefactors, the fools Pompey and Froth. His abuse of the English language provides a bit of comic relief in what is otherwise a grim comedy.
