I . Benny Hill
(1925–92)
an English comedy actor popular from the mid 1950s to the 1980s. His television series The Benny Hill Show , which he wrote himself, consisted mainly of clever visual humour and jokes about sex which some people considered old-fashioned.
II . George Roy Hill
(1922–2002)
a US film director. His best-known films include Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Sting (1973), for which he won an Oscar , and The World According to Garp (1982).
III . Rowland Hill
(1795–1897)
a British Post Office worker who invented the postage stamp, originally costing one penny (the Penny Black , introduced in 1840). Before this, postage was paid by the person receiving a letter or parcel. Hill was made a knight in 1860.
