a US journalist and author who has been a leading figure in the campaign for women’s rights since the 1960s. She helped to establish the Women’s Action Alliance (1971), the National Women’s Political Caucus (1971) and Ms magazine (1972), which she edited until 1987. Her own articles were collected in Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions (1983).
