a group of buildings in the City of London, England, which contain two of the Inns of Court , the Inner Temple and the Middle Temple. Lawyers work and are trained there.
II . Shirley Temple
(1928– )
the most famous and popular child star in the history of Hollywood . She was known for the curls in her hair and the dimples (= hollow places) in her cheeks. Her many films, in which she also danced and sang, included Curly Top (1935), Heidi (1937) and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1938). She was later, under her married name of Shirley Temple Black, an active Republican (1) politician. She was appointed as a US representative to the United Nations (1969) and as ambassador to Ghana (1974–6) and Czechoslovakia (1989–92).
