Volcanic massif, Cameroon.

Rising to 13,353 ft (4,070 m), it is the highest peak in West Africa. Extending 14 mi (23 km) inland from the Gulf of Guinea , it is the westernmost extension of a series of mountains that form a natural boundary between Cameroon and Nigeria. Richard Burton climbed its summit in 1861. The volcano last erupted in 1959.
