It rises close to the headwaters of the Mure 015F; River in eastern Transylvania at an elevation of 5,900 ft (1,800 m). It is 308 mi (496 km) long and flows south through the southern Carpathian Mountains to enter the Danube River opposite Nikopol. There are several resorts and spas along its course through the mountains.
