River, western Myanmar.

Rising in the northern mountains, it flows 720 mi (1,158 km) northwest through the Hukawng Valley and then south along the Indian border to join the Irrawaddy at Myingyan. It is generally navigable below its confluence with the Uyu River. It was the scene of heavy fighting during World War II.
