born June 12, 1924, Milton, Massachusetts, U.S. George Bush. in full George Herbert Walker Bush politician and businessman who was vice president of the United States (19811989) and the 41st president of the United States (198993). As president, Bush assembled a multinational force to compel the withdrawal of Iraq from Kuwait in the Persian Gulf War.
