(species Lagurus ovatus), annual grass of the family Poaceae, native to shores of the Mediterranean region, naturalized in Australia, and cultivated as an ornamental in North America. The oval flower cluster is soft, hairy, and long-lasting. Grayish green hare's-tail grass, about 3060 cm (12 feet) tall, with narrow, soft, flat leaf blades, is grown for use in dried bouquets.
