port in Adur district, administrative county of West Sussex, historic county of Sussex, England. It lies along the English Channel at the mouth of the River Adur, between the seaside resorts of Hove to the east and Worthing to the west. The river's mouth is used as a port for coastal traffic, including timber, cement, and materials for Shoreham's gas works and electric power station. Pop. (1991) 17,332.
