a US magazine which is known especially for its photographs. It was first published in 1936 by Henry Luce who owned Time magazine. His aim was to enable readers ‘to see life; to see the world; to witness great events’. After television became popular, Life went out of business in 1972, but it was brought back in 1978, appearing every month and then from 2004 every two months.
