POLE-AND-LINE VESEL

A fishing vessel used primarily for catching tuna and skipjack. The fishermen stand on the railing or special platforms and fish with poles, to which a line and hook is attached. Tanks with live bait and a water spray system for attracting fish are typical features of these vesels. Commission of the European Communities (1990)
