(356–323 BC) a king of Macedonia who, while he was still a young man, took control of Greece, Egypt, and most of the countries to the east of the Mediterranean Sea as far as India. He established many cities including Alexandria in Egypt, and is regarded as one of the greatest military leaders in history.
