SHADOW MASK

(n.) A metal plate with tiny holes carefully positioned inside the CRT hardware. The electron beam passes from the electron gun , through a hole in the shadow mask, which guides the beam and ensures its precise placement on the inside display surface. The mask ensures that electrons from the red gun hit the red phosphor , that electrons from the green gun hit the green phosphor, and that the electrons from the blue gun hit the blue phosphor.
