all the lands owned by the British King or Queen and the money that is made through them. In 1760, King George III gave up the monarch’s rights to these in return for the Civil List , a payment made to the King or Queen every year by Parliament. As a result the money from the Crown Estate, which is managed by the Crown Estate Commissioners , is now collected by the government on behalf of the British people. In 2003 the lands and property were worth more than £4 billion and the income from them was about £170 million.
