YIELD-PER-RECRUIT

Meaning of YIELD-PER-RECRUIT in English

The expected lifetime yield per fish recruited in the stock at a specific age. Depends on the exploitation pattern (fishing mortality at age) or fishing regime (effort, size at first capture) and natural mortality. The Y/R increases with changes in fishing regime up to a point where the Maximum Sustainable Yield -Per-Recruit is obtained. Beyond that point, there is growth overfishing.
