The desktop will consist of small utilities and larger applications which share a consistent look and feel . GNOME uses GTK+ as the GUI toolkit for applications.
GNOME is intended to run on any modern and functional Unix -like system. The current version runs on Linux , FreeBSD , IRIX and Solaris .
