Meaning of GREAT BELT in English

Danish Store Blt strait between the Danish islands of Funen (Fyn) and Langeland (west) and Zealand and Lolland (east). It is about 40 miles (64 km) long and connects the Baltic Sea with the Kattegat (an arm of the North Sea between Jutland and Sweden). Store Blt (Great Belt East Bridge) under construction between Zealand and Funen, Denmark Construction began in the early 1990s on the Great Belt interisland link, consisting of a double (rail and road) bridge, rail tunnel, and suspension bridge crossing between Funen and Zealand, which is the site of Copenhagen. The Great Belt suspension bridge (East Bridge) was designed to have a 5,328-foot (1,624-metre) main span when completed in 1998.
