an extreme right-wing political party in Britain. It was formed in 1966 and caused some street violence in the 1970s, mainly because of its campaign against black and Asian people. In 1980 the party split, and some of its members formed the British National Party . The National Front has put forward many candidates for election to Parliament but none of them has received more than a few hundred votes.
