NORTH SEA GAS

( in Britain ) natural gas obtained from under the North Sea , mainly off the east coast of Scotland and the coast of East Anglia . Britain’s gas supply was formerly produced from coal, but since the late 1960s the North Sea has been the only source of the country’s gas.
