A scheduling technique whereby two different pieces of copy are run in the circulation of a publication with no one reader receiving both advertisements. This can be accomplished via a geographic split, a demographic split (if the publication offers demographic editions), a subscription/newsstand sales split, or an every- other-copy split (commonly called an "A/B" split).
